Gone Without Goodbye
Yesterday, you stood by my side,
In every place, with every stride.
No matter where I chose to go,
In my heart, you’d always show.
Long you stayed, held in my mind,
With love so deep, so sweet, so kind.
Mornings bright, we’d greet the day,
Side by side, come work or play.
We’d part for now, just for a while,
Chasing dreams with every mile.
But you left without a word,
Without a sound, without a third.
You said, “Only death can break this bond,”
Yet now you’re gone, so far beyond.
The one I loved has gone away,
Why death chose you, who can say?
In my heart, you’ll always stay,
Though you left, you couldn’t stay.
Where you’ve gone, I do not know,
But I feel your spirit, soft and low.
Are you lost, or sad, or lone?
In that place that death calls home.
Crowds around, yet none like you,
Death took the one it never knew.
Gone you are, no way back here,
Leaving silence, leaving tears.
You said, “Only death can break this bond,”
Yet now you’re gone, so far beyond.
The one I loved has gone away,
Why death chose you, who can say?
In my heart, you’ll always stay,
Though you left, you couldn’t stay.
Today, I’m left with only pain,
Life’s changed, it’s not the same.
I reach for you in empty air,
Hoping to find you somewhere there.
You said, “Only death can break this bond,”
Yet now you’re gone, so far beyond.
The one I loved has gone away,
Why death chose you, who can say?
In my heart, you’ll always stay,
Though you left, you couldn’t stay.
Today, I’m left with only pain,
Life’s changed, it’s not the same.
I reach for you in empty air,
Hoping to find you somewhere there.
You said, “Only death can break this bond,”
Yet now you’re gone, so far beyond.
The one I loved has gone away,
Why death chose you, who can say?
In my heart, you’ll always stay,
Though you left, you couldn’t stay.
Now here I am, without you near,
Living life in silent fear.
Today I face life on my own,
Without you, I feel so alone.
Without you, I feel so alone.
