Gone Before Goodbye

The rain was whispering your name,
Through candlelight and endless pain,
Your photograph begins to fade,
A memory the shadows made.

We built our dreams on borrowed time,
Now silence sings where hearts would rhyme,
You said forever — now I see,
Forever means eternity.

The night remembers what we were,
A ghost of love, I still prefer.
I reached for you, but you had flown,
Beyond the stars where souls have gone.

You were gone before goodbye,
Didn’t wait, you couldn’t try.
Left me staring at the sky,
As angels took you passing by.
You were gone before goodbye,
Heaven’s door called, I asked why.
Now your light will never die—
You were gone before goodbye.

Our shadows danced where moments burned,
I prayed for time that won’t return.
You crossed a bridge I couldn’t see,
And left the world too soon from me.

Your voice still hums in gentle air,
Your laughter lingers everywhere.
I trace your name through falling rain,
And whisper low your name again.

Maybe time will heal this ache,
But love’s not something death can take.
You took my world, you took the light,
Yet guide me softly through the night.

If heaven’s real, then set me free,
Till you’re the one I come to see.
A thousand words I couldn’t say,
Now live in prayers I send your way.

You were gone before goodbye,
Didn’t hear the last goodbye.
All my tears still paint the sky,
But your soul will never die.

You were gone before goodbye,
Left your heart where angels lie.
Now the wind sings lullabies—
You were gone before goodbye.

In dreams, you stand beneath the rain,
Smiling soft, untouched by pain.
And though the dawn will steal your light,
You’re with me still, beyond the night.

Gone before goodbye…
