Love Was Never Just a Game
I’ve spent my life through silver years of age,
Looking back upon my childhood stage.
The days when father’s hands were strong,
And mother’s laughter was a song.
Now I’ve learned what this whole world can teach,
The highs, the lows, all within my reach.
Mistakes are chapters life will write,
A candle burning through the night.
They whisper softly, “Don’t forget,
Each wound you bear is wisdom met.”
Some loves have brought both joy and pain,
Each memory carved, each tear remains.
And every dawn reminds my heart,
Of all the ways I fell apart.
No love will bloom forevermore,
No sorrow stays, no endless war.
Each feeling lives, then fades away,
Just like the sun that greets each day.
And now I find my only prayer,
Is for the past and who was there.
I still love you through my weary days,
Even as my light begins to fade.
I’ve not much time left in this world to stay,
But I’ve learned the price we all must pay.
Those broken dreams from yesterday,
Have taught me truths that never stray.
To those who rise and find their flame,
Don’t treat love as just a game.
For love’s no game, no fleeting spark,
It carves its name upon your heart.
The best of souls may never return,
If love’s a toy you fail to learn.
I’ve walked through seasons, lost and found,
Watched falling leaves upon the ground.
I’ve held the hands of fleeting time,
And heard regret in silent rhyme.
Each face I met, a story told,
Some warm, some distant, some grown cold.
But in the mirror now I see,
A life that’s lived, a humbled me.
And if tomorrow never comes,
At least I’ve danced beneath the sun.
I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve lost, I’ve won,
And found my peace when day was done.
For hearts will break and hearts will mend,
The circle spins, there is no end.
Each soul must walk through joy and pain,
And bloom again with gentle rain.
I close my eyes and see your face,
Still shining in some distant place.
I still love you through my weary days,
Even as my dreams decay.
Life’s too short to waste away,
Chasing ghosts that couldn’t stay.
Now I know, love’s not for pride,
But for the truth we hold inside.
To those who follow, young and brave,
May you find love that you will save.
For love’s no game, no fleeting spark,
It carves its name upon your heart.
The best of souls may never return,
If love’s a toy you fail to learn.
And when my time has come to go,
I’ll watch the stars from high below.
I’ll whisper softly in the breeze,
My love remains, it never leaves.
To you, the one I can’t replace,
My heart still beats within your space.
The world will turn, the night will end,
And love will rise to start again.
I still love you through my weary days,
Even as my dreams decay.
Life’s too short to waste away,
Chasing ghosts that couldn’t stay.
Now I know, love’s not for pride,
But for the truth we hold inside.
To those who follow, young and brave,
May you find love that you will save.
For love’s no game, no fleeting spark,
It carves its name upon your heart.
The best of souls may never return,
If love’s a toy you fail to learn.
I still love you through my weary days,
I still love you though I’ve grown old,
Through every story left untold.
If I could live just one more day,
I’d hold you close and softly say:
Love’s not a game for fools to play,
It’s the soul’s most fragile way.
So treasure hearts, don’t let them burn,
For once they’re gone—they won’t return.
And when the stars begin to fade,
My love for you will still remain,
Eternal as the gentle rain.
Now as the sunset paints the sky,
I smile, I breathe, I say goodbye.
The lessons learned, the tears I’ve cried,
Have built the peace I feel inside.
And though my days may fade away,
My love for you will always stay.
