Almost Love

Almost Love

I’m here for you when you need me near,
But only when you choose, my dear.
I can’t be with you all the time,
Our love is stuck in this silent rhyme.
I tell the world we’re only friends,
But deep inside, I can’t pretend.
I stay too close but far enough,
Hoping one day this love’s enough.

No right to hold, no right to claim,
I miss you, but it’s all the same.
No definition to what we are,
Close to love, but still so far.
Almost lovers, but not quite,
Can’t call you “mine” through the night.
Just a thin line I can’t cross,
Always near, but forever lost.

Will there be a day for me,
When you love me just as fiercely?
Or is that day just in my dreams,
Far from truth, or so it seems?
Tell me now, who am I to you?
Am I someone you’ll hold onto?
Don’t keep me here, don’t let me stay,
If you think I’m not worth the way.

No right to hold, no right to claim,
I miss you, but it’s all the same.
No definition to what we are,
Close to love, but still so far.
Almost lovers, but not quite,
Can’t call you “mine” through the night.
Just a thin line I can’t cross,
Always near, but forever lost.

I’ve waited long for love to show,
But now I need to truly know,
Will you love me like I do?
Or is this heart just broken in two?

No right to hold, no right to claim,
I miss you, but it’s all the same.
No definition to what we are,
Close to love, but still so far.
Almost lovers, but not quite,
Can’t call you “mine” through the night.
Just a thin line I can’t cross,
Always near, but forever lost.

Will there ever be a day,
When you choose me and choose to stay?
Or will I remain just out of sight,
Almost love, but never right?
